Subpopulation

set of individuals which is isolated from the rest of the population (regional population model). Only individuals within the same subpopulation can mate and produce offspring (selection pool). An exchange among subpopulation can take place by migration or pollination. Individuals within a subpopulation develop independently from other subpopulations (niching).
